Fall is the perfect time for a weekend get-away. The kids are back in school, tourists are back to work and many places that were swamped with visitors are now pleasantly quiet. Here are our top picks for a long weekend get-away in Visalia (just a few shorts hours from LA and SF) that will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (SEKI): With fall foliage and fewer visitors, the Parks are a wonderful, peaceful place to spend a weekend. Check out our 'Visit the Parks' tab to learn more about planning your SEKI trip!
Taste The Arts Festival: On October 19, artists will line the streets of downtown Visalia with amazing artwork. Meet the artists, stroll the streets and enjoy art in all forms at this FREE event.
Taste Makers: This is an emerging artist music festival. Listen to music, have a beer or two, grab some food and enjoy the last of the warm weather.
Oktoberfest & Vossler Farms: Each year the Visalia Chamber of Commerce hosts Oktoberfest which is the unofficial kick off to the corn maze season at Vossler Family Farms. On the last Friday of September, enjoy food samplings, wine tastings, and of course, beer tastings from local breweries. And make sure to head back to the farm the next day to "get lost" in the 10 acre corn maze and see if you can find all 12 check points. Now, that's the way to jump into fall!
Taste of Downtown: A foodie's ultimate paradise, Visalia has always been a hot-spot for fresh-from-the-farm cuisine. On October 8, you'll enjoy delicious tastes of Downtown Visalia's finest while strolling our charming streets and meeting friendly locals.
These are just a few of our top picks. For more ideas and suggestions for your Fall (or any) Weekend Getaway, explore our Calendar of Events or our Vacation Ideas.
