As the weather cools and leaves begin to turn from green to golden yellow and orange, the call of the road is hard to resist. Most of the summer travelers have returned home leaving many top tourist sites uncrowded. If you are looking for a weekend to get you in the spirit of Fall, we have the itinerary for you. The National Park Service offers several days throughout the year when entrance to the parks is free. Plan ahead to take advantage to these remaining dates for 2024. 

Sequoia National Park

There’s nothing like autumn foliage and crisp mountain air at Sequoia National Park! The towering trees and vibrant colors make every hike and scenic drive feel like a journey through nature’s masterpiece. Embrace fall’s beauty and breathe in the freshness of the season.

Kaweah Oaks Preserve

Fall is the perfect time to visit Kaweah Oaks Preserve! Take a stroll along the beautiful trails, surrounded by stunning autumn oaks and crisp air. Bring along your family and furry friends for a day immersed in nature’s autumn glow. A beautiful escape awaits just outside the city!

Bird Watching 

By November, Sandhill Cranes will be present en masse at Pixley National Wildlife Refuge.  Sundown remains the most spectacular viewing time.  Pixley National Wildlife Refuge is also great for waterfowl, wading birds such as Ibis, and raptors.  Bravo Lake and Lake Success have great diversity with Osprey, Bald Eagle, White Pelican besides ducks and geese and the occasional rarity.  Lake Kaweah is highly variable depending on water levels and how steep the shoreline is.
